GEZI – 10 Years Later: Documentary Film Screening Series GeZinema

VIDEOACT is proud to collaborate with the Maxim Gorki Theatre in the context of the event series Gezi – 10 Years Later. The Gorki Theatre is presenting a series of events in honor of the 10th anniversary of the Gezi Park Protests. Şirin and her co-curator Necati Sönmez have prepared a documentary film series under the title of GeZinema that showcases global uprisings from Chile to Lebanon. This event series raises awareness about and provides new insight into a turbulent decade of protest in order to reimagine the politics of our present. Films shot at the epicentre of protests, witnessing, recording and disseminating the stories of social movement makers, will provide a space to discuss solidarity against growing political oppression, reflect upon the representative force of such films and celebrate the courageous acts of their protagonists. Each screening will be followed by talks with special guests that will contextualize the films and provide a framework for understanding the events and the developments since.

The screening series details can be found here: https://www.gorki.de/en/gezinema
