Şirin presented part of her research results at the MariCorners International Interdisciplinary Queer Studies conference. During the panel “Leaving the Circle: LGBT representation and resistance in Turkey”, Şirin looked at how LGBT individuals from Turkey based in Berlin use audio-visual practices such as music videos, documentaries and online news to create visibility for LGBT and trans struggles in Turkey, while also celebrating love, diversity and queer experiences.
