The screening program Allegories from Turkey: Political Discourse through Cinema will take place on Friday, April 21, at 19:30 at the Waschhaus/Kino 2 in Potsdam. The screening program is part of Europe’s largest international student film festival, the Sehsüchte International Film Festival and will showcase four short films made by Emre Birişmen.
Emre Birişmen’s cinema focuses on survival, immigration, inequality, liberty, and justice – communicated through an abstract and multi-layered narration. Challenging (auto)censorship mechanisms in the oppressive environment in Turkey, Birişmen finds creative alternatives to speak politically through film.
